Hi,
I have a facelift 156 and the fuse for the reversing lights and radio(on/off with ignition) keeps blowing.
I replaced the fuse and with the radio off, put the car in reverse. As soon as the gear lever hit the reverse position I watched the 10amp fuse blow.
Any idea what might be causing this?

Try a new reverse switch. They are quite cheap and can be reached relatively easily through the battery tray.

Probably just a short on the positive feed to the reversing light bulb. Shorted to the bodywork, maybe due to a trapped wire that's rubbed through.

A hamfisted wannabe-mechanic could have damaged the wire by installing the battery cage over it and wedging the wire between the cage and the frame.
I did that on one of mine... and fixed it afterwards too.

Try removing the reversing light bulbs to track a short down.

Oops, I fitted the battery myself a few month ago when I was trying to eliminate the causes of a ABS failure I was getting.

I have removed the bulbs and cannot see anything wrong there, and also couldn't see any damage to the wiring there it enters the boot through the flexible protection tube thingy.
I am booking the car into my local Alfa specialist as I need him to rectify a VDC system failure, I'll get him to look into the fuse issue as well.

Blown Fuse

Had the same problem , Changed switch , didn't help
Your right it is the boot wire coming from the car to the boot inside the rubber.
Some how the rubber has reacted with insulation of the wire and became brittle and the wires were shorting out. :thumbup:
