So there I was, sat in traffic, feeling pretty good about my new GTV V6 when some guy pulls alongside and says "Hey mate, your reverse lights are on!". Twenty people later and two jokes about the reliability of Alfas later  - I'm getting a bit thredders with it.

To cap it all, the next day it fixes itself. 1 week later, it's back!!!

Any bright ideas about what could be causing this? If it's a known issue, what do I do, and what do I pull out/solder/replace to fix it? My temporary measure has just been to remove the reverse lights and avoid reversing! Keen to get it fixed as soon as.

Any advice / directions appreciated :D

It's likely to be the switch on the gearbox. If you can do without reverse lights for a while, the easiest way to save yourself embarrassment is to pull the connector off the switch until you can get a replacement switch fitted.

The switch should be on the front face of the gearbox - near the air filter. Wrap the connector in tape so no grime gets in there whilst disconnected.

Or just take the bulbs out until you get it fixed. That's what the policeman told me to do at the side of the road when it happened to me in my 164.

When it happened to me, a very kind person sent me a switch they had spare free of charge. I meant to send them some money, but lost the address and the name. If you're reading this, I really appreciated it and feel bad I didn't give you any money!
