My sport wagon bodywork is pretty bad. I've just gone to get my wife's x5 wheels powder coated and next door was a body shop recommended by the powdercoater, his work was impressive. My front wings are to be binned, have some new wings to go on. He said regardless he was going to put a base coat on because of the pearl finish, full respray removing everything e.g door handles, grilles badges etc. He said he would want it for a few weeks to do the job slowly and properly. Quote 1300. I reckon I will go with it, the cars he was working on were high end modded cars with perfection in mind. I feel a bit hard done as with the saloon getting bits and peices done over time hasn't cost a lot less and it is no where near a perfect full respray. Will prob book it in a few weeks.

That's a superb price! Mine was just shy of £1500 for 4 wing de rust, 4 wings, 4 doors, bonnet and front bumper and sills sprayed. So very good. I'm now thinking of getting the back bumper hatch and roof done to finish it off! Will need to save up for it so maybe next year!

I've got a set of teledials in my garage which have been powder coated anthracite by these guys, I think they look really nice, compared to the ones on the sportwagon which look alot duller. will take some pics. I had anthracite on the x5 from a cheaper company but didnt like the finished product. Company is Speedwells in tyseley just off the Coventry road. They were charging 65 a corner but I wanted a different look and have gone with an expensive hi power silver with chrome finish £80 a corner, you can
Leave the car and they will removed refit Tyres etc, another customer with a range rover was given some wheels to drive around with and return for finished wheels. Really good service. That price is for 22" hartge alloys, the teledials was around 55 a rim.

Hi AYAT, am looking at getting a respray on my 147, just wondered if you booked your sport wagon in, are you due to get in back soon? Can we have some pictures / feedback on the results, and where is it that gave you that quote of £1300?

Will be getting done soon, so far the place I mentioned but am gonna check with 2 other places first. Will defo be posted some pics but can't say when. The place was next to speedwell wheels in tyseley. The guy at Speedwells will have the number. Problem is too many body shops but I will make my choice after a bit more research. Whoever does it I want pics of the work undertaken.

Thanks for the update AYAT look forward to seeing the pics.

Do you or anyone have any experience of using City Powder Coaters in Digbeth? Just that their prices seem rather reasonable?

City Powder Coaters Ltd. Birmingham. 0121 448 7646.

I used Lap-Tab last time (now known as The Wheel Specialist) in Erdington, but last time I enquired, quite some time ago now, their prices had shot up.

Lap-tab are expensive, but no personal experience. I used Bourne powdercoaters who were really cheap but there anthracite wasn't the best finish, and they want just the wheels. Speedwell I found have a good choice of finishes. Will post some pics
