This is a little project that i took on recently.
I bought a 2002 Alfa 156 1.8ts Facelift interior with 68k on the clock for £640 off ebay.
It had been involved in a light front end accident which the previous owner had set about making worse by bodging it back together.
it needed a new front bumper as the one the previous owner had put on was originally silver and had been sprayed so badly the paint was dropping off. the front wings were sprayed so badly they needed changing as well. (You could still see the undercoat in places)
the bonnet also had to come off as it had so much over spray on it. And a new grill. (the old one was snapped in half from the crash)
The only mechanical things it needed where new drop links and rear discs and pads. and new front tyres.
I paid £150 for the bumper, wings and bonnet in the original colour from Ned at autolusso (a massive thanks) and £70 for the discs and pads + £100 for some brand new continentals for the front.
Plus there where a few miscellaneous things as well like the drop links. i guess all in i paid out about £1200 including a new MOT.
Im well chuffed with the final result. i was going to sell her on but im so pleased i think i will keep it for myself. the engine is perfect and everything works even the climate control.
Im not sure what its worth. And i dont even care if i have made a profit.
its the first time i have ever done something like this and it is so satisfying.
I probably saved this car from being stripped and sold for parts and its a nice feeling knowing that i have kept at least one alfa from certain death.:)
Just thought i would share this with you as i am feeling quite pleased with myself. :D

Sorry i dont have any before pictures but the car was filthy and the front end really did not look nice.
It took me half a day with help from the other half to get it looking nice and clean again for the photos.

The car has full grey leather, 4x electric windows etc. it is a turismo but is veloce spec except for the suspension which i actually prefer. (not so crashy)
Anyone know what its worth out of interest.;)

Very nice. Spray the bumber rub strips on the front Id recommend! They belong to a pre face lift.

That is the next job then its off for a cambelt and tensioners.

Serious bargain well done...I think the interior of the facelift 156 is really impressive.

Got to agree. its a far nicer place to sit than my pre facelift 156.
Im well pleased with it.:D

You would turn a profit at that I reckon, if it looks as nice in the flesh as the pics show.My W plate 156 sele has about the same mileage and I've recently had a couple of ppl offer me the £1600 I paid for it at the end of last year (was thinking of getting a 166 3.0 super)
Mine's older and has no leather, and the sele puts some ppl off, but it's just a case of finding someone who likes the car at a time you're wanting to sell.
(I have spent about a grand in all on cambelt, servicing, new tyres on all corners, and a few other niggles, so I'll not see a profit hehe but the car's flawless atm, so prolly going to keep driving it n e way)

Yeah it looks as good as the pictures.
Its a shame the sellespeeds get such bad press. my previous car was a selle and the only thing that never went wrong was the gearbox.
as long as you get the clutch rod adjusted and it caliberated yearly it will last for donkeys.
I would bet that 9 out of 10 that go wrong dont get this done.
Like they say. if you look after it it will look after you.

One thing i forgot to mention is that the airbag light was on.
A commen irritating problem that probably saved me more money as the airbags never fired because of this.
solved with a second hand airbag ecu for 50 quid.
much cheaper than a whole new airbag set.
Probably the only time i have ever been pleased to see an airbag light on.:cheese:
