Ive got 2 thermostats to go onto the gta,s. I know it's an easy job but can't be bothered, how long do u think it should take/charge. Guy told me they will have to bleed the system for air and will take a couple of hours for both. Sound reasonable

TBH a trained mechanic could probably have a stat changed in 20 minutes, as for bleeding the air that is as simple as running the car without the header tank cap on until all the bubbles disperse!
Most annoying part of this job is taking out that black box that holds the wiring loom just above the stat. The bolt that holds it to the stat housing is very easy to round out, as it just uses a cross-head screwdriver.
I've had both replaced now and both cars running perfect. My local Indy didn't think any thing was wrong with the saloon which was done on Saturday with the mot. But the stat would definitely stick open sometimes and wouldn't get high enough even after a while. Now it reaches correct temp as it should after a short while and sits below 90. My question is I hope there isn't any damage to the engine as the open stat symptoms has been for a while. So potentially the engine may have been running too hot.
Engine will have been running too cold not hot, if the stat was stuck open. Stuck closed, it would overheat within a few miles. When open it will overfuel a bit, not great for engine wear (bore wash) but I'm sure it won't have caused any issues.
cool dan, car feels fine but thanks for the clarification
