Hi,

Just got my GTV back from a service and one of the advisorys is the rear bushings and the front wishbones need replacing.

The garage quoted £500 all in which basically i haven't got, especially after the £200 service.

I asked about doing it myself and he said you'd need a press for the new bushings, is this the case?

I've found the bushings on EB spares for £136 and the wishbones for £72 so i'm looking at saving a few quid to say the least.

Anything i need to know, any pit falls, any links to how to guides?

I'm not too bad on the spanners and i've got an inspection pit too.

thanks

Simon

We had ours done at Autolusso, its a bit of a drive for you, but you do get bacon sarnies & a big mug of tea...

Be worth giving Ned a call or a PP, even if he doesnt do the work he'll certain give you free advice re the press.

Hope this helps

I was in a similar position, paid £280 for the wishbone fitting. Quoted in London a couple of hundred more than you for the rear bushes. I expect you going the powerflex route, not had mine done yet but heard it's a challenging job as they pop out easily until slotted into the car. So not like you can get them pressed in and then fitted at your leisure.
Let's us know how you get on?

Done a bit more research yeh the problem seems to be fitting the new bushes. I think i'll give it a go and if the worse comes to the worse i could take the arms to the garage to have the bushes pressed then refit at home??

A decent engineers vice and a bit of elbow grease will get em in. Done it before when you need all these "specialist tools" to do a job. If moneys tight we make do!
