Has anyone (successfully) taken the components from an old Alfa key (in my case a two button) and put it into a new blank?

I have one as a spare that was cloned and cut so it'll start the car but won't arm the alarm etc. I have been told by a 'specialist', that because it's been cloned it cannot now be reprogrammed. So I wondered if I took the new key apart and used the components from my old key (both buttons on the point of giving up) would it work?

If I understand correctly then yes this possible. Take all the inners of the old key including the transponder chip and blade and put in new one. Job done.

Just don't buy a cheap one I did and the parts didn't fit inside

There are two different versions of the black 156 key. Look almost identical but they are not. Innards will only fit the correct version.
And the new case is unlikely to fix the button issue that is usually the microswitches on the circuit board.
