I have a 2004 156 and have a horrible rattling sound coming from around or behind the tachometer. I'd like to remove it to see if I can figure out what the noise is, but the screw on the inside top of the tachometer casing seems impossible to release. Am I missing something (such as it being for display only !!) or are these damn screws put in too tight ?

Nope that is the screw to remove the dial surround, I did it with mine. Sounds like they're done up to tight

All the screws on my car seem ludicrously tight. I tried opening the casing around the steering column and got nowhere with that either ... the heads of the screws are starting to get damaged because I put so much force on them
