Any one knows if it's hard to do?
Is it one piece that can be replaced easily with one straight pipe?
Do I have to replace it all back to the rear?
Or, horror, do I have to use a saw?

Stefan, unfortunately your question is not very clear.

Do you mean, "can the DPF box be replaced with a straight bit of pipe?" Could you clarify your question a bit?

If this is what you meant, the DPF can be removed and replaced with a straight bit of pipe, but the ECU will need re-programming.

Alfa Tuner I believe can supply these pipes, but I don't know where you would get your ECU re-programmed in Sweden.

Thnk you for your patience!

Half way back to the back boxes there is a silencer ("middle box" = pdf?). To get more noise I'd like to take it away and replace it with a straight pipe or a less silencing silencer. Do I need to re program for that?

DPF is just for Diesels, so i'm sure your 1750 wont have one. It could be a catalytic converter though. Are there any wires/tubes going in to it?

Whooops. I didn't spot it was a petrol.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with petrols, so am unable to help.

I know there have been threads about putting on different exhaust pipes onto petrols on here, but am not sure if they were on a 1750?

Hi there, the middle box should be the main silencer. You CAN cut that out and replace it with a straight pipe. However, if you did that to a 2.2 for example, it would be far too loud.

On the 1750 it might sound good but I don't know if it will be too loud. Only one way to find out! It may improve the engines breathing too. Though once you are finished with all your exhaust changes, you should get the engine remapped to get the most performance.

IIRC, the middle box means back pressure & this means torque.

Wait until you move over here as there are two local places I can recommend in relation to good value custom exhausts;)

Back pressure on turbocharged engines isn't good. It makes the turbo spool slower.

Yes, so you could cut out the middle box completely and just replace it with a piece of pipe, but be ready to fit a more free-flowing centre silencer (i.e. a straight through silencer box) if it turns out that the system is too loud.

NB, you need to drive around for a good half hour to see if it is too loud. The sound proofing on the Brera is so good that when I had my very loud exahust system (made by Torque Exhausts), it did not seem loud in the cabin, but after about 20 minutes it started to give me a headache :(

Basically, you're going to have to do the experiments on the 1750 which I did on the 2.2. It can take a while to get it just right, but once you do, it's really worth it :thumbs:
