I am loving my Alfa 145 Junior but everytime i want to open the doors I have to put the key in the lock. The central locking works fine but i have no key remote key.

Does anyone know if remote central locking comes as standard on the Alfa 145 Junior 1.6?

If so, how much would it be to buy the remote key?

Any help will be much appreciated.

I'm not aware of any 145s / 146s that were sold without remote central locking. The Junior should certainly have it as it's the "deluxe" 1.6 model with all the bells and whistles. What type of keys do you have? Do they not have a remote button on the side?

It's easy to tell for sure if your car is definately equiped with remote lockig capabilities by checking the receiver unit it the roof. This is the unit mounted just in front of the rear view mirror (if you have an alarm then this unit also has 2 volumetric sensors in it)...

If you unclip that unit and it has a connector going into it (i.e. it's not a dummy blanking unit) then your car has remote central locking capabilities.

However, getting a remote key and then getting it all working again is where the challenge begins. Have a read of the following thread and you will see what I mean...

Yes I have the unit that it just in front of the Rear View Mirror and it has the two volumetric sensors in it. I do have a key with a button on the side but the previous owner told me that was only to turn off the alarm.

Nope...the button on the key is to remotely turn the alarm on and off, and at the same time it will also remotely lock or unlock the doors.

I take it that you aren't able to turn the alarm on or off either then?

Not able to turn the alarm on or off. I have just realised that its probably just the battery that needs changing in the key!! The LED on the key doesn't light up when i press the button on the side.

Any ideas who replaces car key batteries?

luxxus, that is the button used to either activate or deactivate the alarm system of your car which obviously should be connected to your central locking.

if there's no response when you press it then the first thing to assume would be the battery inside is dead, the quickest way to see if it is dead is that when you press the button a very high pitched noise should be heard, I would say that should be your first port of call.

If the battery does not solve the problem then don't dispair, Go to e-bay, search under alfa key repairs & you will find "Jeffasan" & another guy, I believe that they both have been associated with our club for some time.
Jeffasan repaired my key for a fixed price, I think it was about ÂŁ23.00. He will answer any questions that you may have.
