Is that an Angel map by any chance?

I only ask as RobMSport had an Angel remap and went through a stack of bother a few weeks back with the same issue. Eventually he got the Angel tuner out to Autolusso where the MOT was being done and the guy tweaked the 2.4 map they use to blow lower on emissions. Mine was used as a comparison mapped 2.4 as it was at autolusso at the time (custom mapped by AHM) and I blew a 1.49 so this isnt mapped cars in general but the air/fuel/boost mix in the map. Not even heavily aggressive maps (mine is 267) are at fault, you can have power and it can be clean too!

To be honest, I used to get a smoke before I started the Rhino treatments and now I get none.

As Clogz said, it is most likely an underlying issue, like injectors and/or air filter affecting the burn.

You can use your treatment in a more aggressive way if you run the fuel as low as you dare (light on at least) then add the full treatment to the empty tank, go run it hard at full revs until you're on vapour then fill up and add another treatment in.

Also, you can get a smoke reduction treatment to add to the tank. mine blew a 0.97 with a bottle of wynns in the tank at its last proper MOT :)

poor the full bottle of your preferred treatment (BG244, wynns etc) into a nearly empty fuel tank on the orange light. Then go drive on the red line till your on vapour, fill up with a fresh tank of diesel and add another full bottle of BG244, wynns etc to that.

The first treatment is a concentrated dose to try and clean a very dirty injector and the second bottle will help with the burn during the emissions test.

Also, put in a new air filter (K&N one is pretty good). You could have too much fuel in the mix because you don't have enough air getting through.

just my thoughts.

haha, its not too difficult, but somewhat involved! the under tray needs to come off to get to it from underneath the car. if in doubt get a pro to sort it. Given the grief you have had you may want to go see an alfa specialist with an MOT facility and tell them the bother you have had so they can sort it all before the test.
