Hi

Just wondering if anyone can help, read a few posts but just want to confirm before i go out and buy bits and pieces.

Si i have a 2001 147 1.6 lusso 120 BHP

I have noticed of late the temperature gauge not quaite reaching 90 even when going around town, the most worrying thing is whenever i do any speed ie 50mph or above the temp needle pretty much drops to 45-50?

Is this the thermostat??

Probably. There are other things it could be, but the thermostat is a common failure, and the best place to start The symptoms you have suggest thermostat.

i would say, 99% for certain you need a new thermotat, i have the same problem on mine and have been given that diagnosis, nothing major to worry about not gonna do any real harm just won't warm up fully until you get it changed, they range in price from around £35 - £45 plus labour if you get it done at garage, only a 15- 20 min job for someone who knows what they're doing

Yep, almost definitely thermostat.

quick check from cold
strt and warm engine and feel top hose should be cold until engine reaches half way on gauge
if top hose warms before reaching half way stat is faulty and its passing
this simple check should be a forum info starter on all of this site
