The dreaded MCSF light came on today on my 2.4 JTD 20V 156....and now the engine won't rev over 3500rpm and has very weak acceleration. To add to the joy, I am trying to drive across France....so does anyone has any ideas? I'm thinking at this stage of just taking it to the nearest main Alfa dealer and living with it. Irony is that I only bought it 2 weekends ago. In Huddersfield. Help!

do you have warranty on this car?

if so take it back & get it fixed

alternatively,

try disconnecting the MAF sensor.

its located just ABOVE the AIRBOX

there is a black connector on it, you'll need aflat headed screw driver to lift the clip in order to remove this connector.

if the car drives better then its maf related.

if not it could one of many things & you'll need to get the car diagnosed

Problem solved: overboost was broken. I got this fixed in a fantastically helpful garage in San Remo, Italy (Prette Martin). They did it on the spot, took an hour, and they charged E137 (part was E77). The car is now a lot happier (I think they chatted to it in Italian). Best service I have ever received from any garage. Thank you to SEARs and rmfrance (who supplied a good list of French dealers).
