This is going to sound stupid, but I had a problem with my washer not working on the rear window. On inspection it was the pipe that had come detached from the body of the washer on the inside of the boot lid. The reason that the pipe had detached from the body of the washer was that the collar on the outside of the boot lid containing the jets, through which the wiper spindle goes was rotating with the wiper spindle - is it meant to do this ?

Yes it does - common problem with the washer pipe coming loose.
Just superglue it on

The pipe falling off is very common. However the collar on the outside containing the jet most definitely should NOT rotate with the wiper. Sounds like the motor shaft has corroded to the plastic outer and broken it loose. A repair may be possible, but ultimately you're probably looking at a new motor.
