I am reaching the end of my tether with this now. I know this is a common problem and I have had the problem for the majority of my 3 years of ownership of my 147. I started with the usual cleaning the bulb, bending the contacts slightly to give a firmer contact and other bits. It has now got to the point where I have had enough and decided to swap my reverse light bulb + holder with my foglight. This worked for a few days and then the problem returned.

Does anyone have any pointers as to where to look for possible problem points or is it going to be a case of following the wiring back inspecting any possible problem points?

I've got this problem with my reversing light. On mine the wiring is a bit iffy in the bit between the the wires to the light and the main boot loom. Turn on the foglight and try wiggling the wire to see if it works/stops working.

Decided to completely strip my boot lid today to have a good look at the wiring. Found absolutely no problems at all. The bulb works fine. Measured a good 12.#V at the bulb terminal. I rebuilt my boot, went out to get some petrol and as soon as I turned my key the good old foglight failure popped up. The only bonus point is that now it says it has failed and remains that way. Previously it would re-fail multiple times on a drive. I think the next thing is solder in a completely new wire in as an extra run and splice it in to the fog light wire as far into the car as possible hopefully jumping the problem point.

not sure if this will help but twice in the last 2weeks my front sidelights haven't worked,i.e. i get a warning when i power her up. if i just restart her then all is back to normal! no blown fuse, bulb etc. Could it be something like this?maybe do a ecu re-set if there is one?

Had another look at this today. I tried an ecu reset which was to no avail. Did another strip and rebuild of the boot lid including cleaning the fog light bulb and making sure all contacts are tight and this so far this seems to have cured the problem. The question is how long it will last...
