I have read all the threads but how do you get the hand brake cable bit off the caliper?

Thanks,

Jules.

Just clamp vise grips on the end and pull it off. Helps if you undo the nut at the handbrake lever to give you some slack

+1, that's exactly what I done, when I replaced both cables.

Just pull the cable toward the front of the car. There is a metal bush on the end of the handbrake cable and this can corrode into the housing on the caliper. Failing that soak the end of the cable with WD40 and twist as you pull out the cable!
