Noticed that my rear anti-roll bar is very rusty both sides of where the bushes have worn the paint away. It's spread about 6" from the bushes and looks to have corroded quite badly, more than just surface rust but only a worry if the bar is actually a thin walled tube. There's no play in the bushes or droplinks and no noises from the rear suspension. Is the rusty roll bar likely to affect handling or be an MOT failure do you think?
bear in mind that if the rust gets under the roll bar bush it will start to rattle. This does make me think though, is there anything you can do to treat the roll bar pre-fitting to prevent it rusting under the bush?
if you need new bushes you need a new bar, it's the rust on the bar which causes the rattle, not the wearing of the bush
