Just wanted to tell you Alfa guys that there's a Rally replica poll on www.realdriver.com. It unfortunately doesn't have any Alfas, but I was thinking that would mean that you would all vote for what you believe to be the best rally rep. FYI, our last poll had Renault 5GTT and VW polo clubs fighting to gain top spot. Just imagine if the Golf Rallye becomes the top Rally Rep

Also, didn't find any Alfa Rally reps, although I can remember that there was a french 75 rally car which wasn't too successfull... did we miss any out?

Realdriver, I don't think Alfa was big on rallying (all that mud and filth! yuck!)

I know that there was a GTV6 that was entered into an African safari or two in the 80s, but no 'road' version was ever made as far as I know. I don't think you're gonna get much joy, I'm afraid!

IMO Best rally rep should be a toss between Integrale, Quattro and maybe Impreza... That isn't what the stats are saying...

Maybe we're missing the escort RS 2000, can that be considered a rally rep?

Did the GTV (bertone) do any rallying?

Bertone rallying? Mmm, not sure, can't ever remember seeing any. Track, certainly!

The Bertone designed car that rallied in the '70s was the Ferrari engined Lancia Stratos. Always been a favourite of mine since I had an Airfix type model of one when I was a lad!

Group B years by far, my favourite was the

Lancia Delta S4 - 4WD Turbo & supercharged 2 litre.

We shouldn't forget the Lancia 037 which was replaced by the Delta S4 and probably the last 2WD car to win a rally.

The S4 was only 1.8 litres, and over 500bhp! (OK, so the Brabham BMW had 1.5 litres and 1500bhp, but that won't get down a muddy track.)

Smudge: A Citroen 2WD car won a tarmac WRC rally in 2000 (Corsica I think). They have the same bhp as WRC cars, but are much lighter. On tarmac, the extra grip afforded by 4WD is not always enough to outdo the extra power to weight ratio of the 2WD cars.

there was a 75 at a rally meetup in Ireland last year. Everyone commented on how good it sounded, in a field of Turbo's she screamed loudest
