hello all, i have noticed a very quiet rapid ticking sound coming from the rear near side quarter just when i slighlty press the loud pedal. it goes away after a second or two and its very quiet but it's there. any ideas? i'm thinking slight exhaust leak or fuel pump(if that is where it is) thx

It's the fuel vapour recovery valve (part of the emission control system). Normal, but irritating; some are louder than others. If you look behind the carpet in the boot on the n/s (opposite battery) you should see the nylon pipes (usually blue) connecting to the valve. It may be "wrapped up" in a piece of foam held with cable ties; this, believe it or not, was Alfas' solution to try and reduce the noise...

so this is normal? lol. i've had the car 3 yrs and only just noticed it. time to turn down all that west coast gangsta rap i listen to lol(westside connection also cures all rear suspention squeaks/clonks lol)thx mate.
