When I indicate right the green indicator flashes doubly fast with corresponding fast click sound. Lights outside are all flashing at normal pace. After switching off/on engine the indicator assumes correct pace. The left indicator remains unaffected.

What calamity is brewing? Any ideas please?

Always used to be a blown bulb... Change in resistance causes the indicator relay to charge the timing capacitor twice as fast (half as many bulbs!), so you got double speed flashing....

If all your bulbs are working though... Some Alfa magic

Unless one (or more) of those bulbs is an LED...

but that doesn't explain it working fine after a reboot...!!

nowadays, the flashing rate is electronically controlled by the bodycomputer, including the clicking sounds, so no longer dependent on blown bulbs etc....
Maybe just a hickup with the bodycomputer....
