I want to tap into the back of my radio for an switched ignition live and a negative ,can anybody help with which wire colours are which?

Which model car ?
on 147 and gt, there is NO switched +12, it's controled via CAN bus.

The CD changer (Blue iirc) DIN socket on the back of the HU has a switched +12V and a ground.
Although it also comes on if you turn the stereo on
without the ignition.

thanks which wire would i buy to plug in, then which wire would i need to attach to

The wiring for the DIN HU sockets are stuck to the top
of the head unit. If you pull it out you'll see the sticker
with the diagrams


You will need a Blue Mini ISO Housing 8 Way CD changer connector
which comes in the form of a plastic housing and pins you
can solder to and then insert into the plug housing.
