Hi Guys,

Please assist if you can, I have a Blocked Radio on my Alfa 159 1.9 JTS that does not seem to clear so I can put my code in. From what I have been able to gather the ECU and Radio don't seem to like each other much and are not talking.

I have driven the car for 2 hours + but the Radio Blocked message does not go away. I am very far from any ALFA dealer so I need to sort this out myself.

I have now totally removed the radio from the car to see if that maybe does not do something. Can I maybe reset the ECU so that it does not block the radio? How do I reset the ECU without a Diagnostic tool?

Please help if you have some knowledge on this.:furious::furious::furious:

Looks like you've had this problem a while, have you phoned a dealer about it?

I'm no expert on 159 audio but it really shouldn't need the code from what I do know. It should be linked to the body computer.

Has the radio been changed - which would mean your radio would require a code and the code you have might be wrong for the current unit.
A wrong code will cause the "wait" message, and the time before it goes off increases every time the wrong code is entered.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

You only need the code if the HU has been swapped at some point.
Get your code checked by asking for one in the ICE lounge thread.

You need to leave the radio powered up until it goes back to accepting
code input.

The more times it's blocked, the longer the wait period.
Could be >4 hours by now?

Pull the head unit and hook it up to +12V over night.

Reading his posts (all based on the radio) since summer 2015 this could well be the case

I have phoned a dealer, they recon I must just disconnect the battery and reconnect it and all should be fine. But the Radio blocked code is not going away, I have driven the car for upwards of 4 hours without killing the ignition and I still did not have any luck. I bought the car with this problem so I don't know if the radio has been swapped. Must be the case if I am having all these problems.

I already got the code through them. But the radio has not allowed me to enter a code. The problem that I am having is getting the Radio Blocked message to go away.

I wish I could say I did not try anything or did not do any research before asking for help. But this unfortunately is not the case, I have read up on every possible solution that I could find and have read the manual about 10 times.

This problem is not going away. Thus I am hoping to find some help from a 159 expert on the forum to hopefully have some neat trick that only a few oaks know about.

Thanks for your input.

Blaupunkt radio unblocking

Hi
I've just bought an Alfa 159 with the radio saying 'Radio blocked, wait'. After trying leaving the radio with and without ignition on & leaving engine running for over 2 hours with no joy I found a radio expert in Sheffield. I took the car to him, he removed the radio, took it into his workshop & returned 10 minutes later, refitted the radio & hey presto radio unblocked asking for code, he entered the code, which he gave me & radio working, all this for £15. Bargain. He is called Rob, details are -

Haywood Motor Services
Unit 1, Amalgam Park
Tinsley Park Road
Sheffield S9 5DL
Tel 0114 2439777, 07860203345

Thanks bobjp1
