I was accelerating pretty quickly in 2nd/3rd gear around 4500rpm yesteday evening and had a heart-in-mouth moment :wow: when my beautiful QV decided to veer to the right - I'm guessing this was a nasty example of torque steering - has anyone else had a similar problem?
Only other thing could be feedback from the road but I didn't notice any particular road wear that would have made such an abrupt change to the steering - your thoughts are welcomed!
I read it as being the same thing, in different degrees. I recognise the symptoms of a twitchy front end as of the other thread linked, but once or twice mine has taken a more notable dive toward the central reservation. I take that to be a more severe case of the same issue.
My 135 does it too under hard acceleration in the lower gears. A bit disconcerting when you expect to go in a straight line and the front end goes sideways
Torque steer I guess? Not much you can do about it... apart from going slower
My GTA was lethal before i had to have the Q2 fitted. it would change lanes on the dual carriageway up to my house all on its own when you floored it :lol:it was quite fun and i got used to it in the end, its not quite so bad now though with the Q2.
Its primarily due to the unequal length drive shafts fitted to most front wheel drive cars. It shouldn't suddenly happen though, its a gradual thing that gets worse (progressivly) the harder you accelerate.
^^that's interesting - centrifugal force imbalance kinda thing?
