Hi,does the placcy top qv have a oil sump gasket,as the guy at northants alfa told me they don't,you just use sealant.Is this right??
I thought they had one.

Correct. No solid gasket is used...you just use liquid gasket instead.

Could involve a bit of swearing and patience because some of the bolts are hard to access but with perseverance you will get there in the end :)

Drian the sump.

Disconnect the exhaust down pipe from the manifold and support.

Remove the 16 bolts around the sump.

Useing the pegs on the sump and block, lever the sump to break the seal.

Lower the sump out from the timing end first, just remember that your fighting the oil pick up tube for the oil pump at this point. And pull the dipstick out a few inches.

All done now,no more puddles LOL.Got it done at a mate of a mates garage.Couldn't be done with lying on the floor ar**ing about(bad back at the mo)so went fishing while he sorted it:) ,Gary
