I have a problem on my 159 2.4 Qtronic regarding the transmission. It sometimes goes straight into tiptronic mode and can't find drive, then when it do go into drive it won'y go back into tiptronic, then when I put it in park, the "P" flashes, an alarm bleeps and it won't give me the key back. It is booked in to have this sorted next week.

However, now I've read up on the qtronic box, I'm concerned that there may be other problems:

1) There is a slight whirrring noise immediately after a gearchange.

2) The transmission feels quite lumpy when slowing down. It is certainly not as smooth as some autos I have driven. You actually feel like your being diven by a learner driver sometimes.

3) It's very slow to pull off. If you put your foot to the floor, it seems to take about 2 seconds before the car starts to move.

4) It creeps forward a lot when idling - I have to keep my foot firmly on the brake at traffic lights. I was under the impression that it should not do this.

I raised this with the dealer when I got the car, they said it sounded normal. I've never driven another qtronic, so what is normal?

1,2 and 3 I would need to experience, 4) is completely normal behaviour for an automatic.

The transmiaaion is made by Aisin, a division of Toyota, its not servicable at the dealers, if it has an internal fault it gets replaced as a complete unit.

Have to say my Brera box is as smooth as silk. Change ups and downs are hardly noticeable. No whirring noises either. Hope you get it fixed ok.
