I bought the gear to do mine myself, I'm a fairly competent home mechanic. It proved to be a right git to do, so farmed it out to a gearbox specialist.

Charged me £200 to replace it, but I bet he wished he'd said more

some alfa garages don't even attempt them doing it in the car, Apparently its easier and quicker just to get engine out do it and replace rather than messing about with it in the car

that's for horrible a job it is
