The only way to be sure (and even then it's not always very clear) is to use a sniff test kit. These are cheap on eBay, and use an indicator dye to detect the presence of exhaust gases in the coolant bottle. EG Combustion Leak Tester Head Gasket Test kit Block Sniff Fluid PETROL DIESEL100ml | eBay
