Hi again All,

I'm having powerflex fitted all round on my Spider 916. What difference will it make if any? will i notice anything in the ride?

I've got them on the back only and yes, huge difference in ride.

I was advised against doing the front because it would stiffen it up too much, but I know folk on here have :)

OMG, wont it now shake and rattle even more than it already does? :(

will feel stiffer more planted more sure footed

shakes and rattles come from worn springs suspensions and loosely fitted car parts not from powerflexing

are you having every single bush replaced or just selected ones

I had my last one done all round.
before it was like running your hand over the tarmac with gloves on.
After it was like running your fingers over! Much better feeling of the road. But with no loss of comfort

Aye, that's what I thought :) There is a difference in handling between the GTV and the Spider. The only thing I've thought about adding to the front end is a strut brace.

I have a spider, this is why i'm worried it's now going to be too hard, feeling every bump through the seat. I prefer an ironed out ride. I just got rid of my Smart Brabus (2010 plate) as i hated the rock hard ride.

I think if i had to tighten everything up on an Alfa i'd be there a looooooooooong time

Arhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what have a i done. scuttle gone crazy!

I really struggled to notice the difference in ride/handling when the rear of my GTV was powerflexed. I think you have to be a track day specialist to really make a comparison. I fitted them really just because it is the fit and forget solution to the crumbly Alfa originals, so I would say don't worry. The strut brace seems to be the best improvement for Spiders especially.

If it's not too late I would strongly suggest you don't bother powerflexing the front. The bushes and balljoints are integral to the wishbones and all seem to have the same lifespan - 26k in my experience. Unless you know differently, the balljoints cannot be fitted separately so you will still have to replace the whole wishbones - containing bushes - with the same regularity, even though the poly bushes will be fine. So this mod seems to be only relevent for competition driving.

For Spider owners.....

If you find the car creaks whilst driving, fit the strut braces defo quietens the car on the road.

P.s. powerflex on the rear is not a bad thing

Powerflex on the back.. best thing since sliced bread.. better handling and more comfort.. If the shocks are good it will drive like a new car..

leave the front standard..

Thanks a lot everyone, I'm feeling a lot calmer now, I think?! Strut brace sounds interesting, I'll search the forum for more info!

We used to do loads of these, has really dropped off over the last couple of years, either we have done them all or the value of the vehicles does not justify the cost, anyway here is a link to our website page about it

Cheers Ned, I'm using Alfaaid as they're local to me. I hopefully get it back tomorrow. Fingers crossed I'll like the ride difference these bushes apparently make
