Hi have just dropped the engine back into my Alfa GT jtdm after I replaced the clutch, timing belt and anti rollbar bushes. On removal when I disconnected the pipe that goes from the power steering rack to the pump A small 1" long calve appeared on the ground. I assumed this had fell from the pump on reassembly I put the small valve into the pump a d connected the tube. Unfortunately there is zero power steering. Any ideas please, have I inserted the valve the wrong way round? is there a spring in there also? and is it possible to get at in situ or is it engine out again. Thank you to all those who can help. Bill

Possibly. The pump is rated at 100bar pressure and this may very well be a 1 way regulating valve.

I can't be of any more help as I have 4 pot petrol engines.
