I'm suffering with noisy power steering and noticed the fluid level was low (just below minimum) so bought fluid and started to follow the procedure in the owners handbook.
The book says to start the engine, turn steering lock to lock a few times then top up however much of the text in the manual appears to have been poorly translated so I am confused as to whether I should be topping up with engine running or not!
alarmingly when running the reservoir is virtually empty with a little whirlpool at the bottom.... if I topped up in this state to the MAX level it would surely be over filled!!! guess I should switch off and top up but wanted to check the steps with someone else to confirm.

Yeah, what Jon said... But make sure you have a scowly grin on your face and make "Starsky and Hutch/ the Professionals" sound effects of wheel screeching and skidding and revving while you turn the steering wheel from side to side while stationary!:cheese:

Trust me, it makes a boring job real fun to do and scares the crap out of the neighbours:thumbs::D
