Just a quick post, my power steering totally failed today(2.0ts) and I called the AA out. The pipe that runs from the reservoir along the offside inner wing had dropped and worn through against the pulley wheel. quite a common fault apparently.

Any way the AA guy managed to fix it there and then, the pipe is long enough to cut out the section where the wear was,( about 2-3 inches of it ), put in a brass insert with two jubillee clamps, and still reach the reservoir. The guy said it was a low pressure hose. Even a piece of copper pipe left over from home plumbing would have worked well enough.

Just in case this happens to you. :)

We couldn't work out where the hose should be clipped up to so as to prevent it happening, came to the conclusion that over time the hose goes soft, gets longer and drops to where it touched the pulley.
