Was installing then but no matter how much poking and prodding I did in hole where airbag wire comes and about that area I couldn't unearth a power connector for the motorised recline.
I guess they are supposed to appear from that hole. Is there an easy way to get better access to the area to find the cable? Wondered if taking off rear footwell heater cover may give me better access to dig out required cable.
Assume they are in there as I have a 2005 car.
Any hints and tips appreciated.
John
PS apparently autodelta or someone like that tried to gazump me by offering £500squid for seats after they were told deposit taken.. take with pinch of salt as could be another Alfa place in West London area you know what traders are like for remembering details
I think the cable is tucked under the centre console, you have to dig it out of there and route it through. I've seen it on a few breakers we've been taking apart and used the plug off one when adding those recaros to my own car, which didn't have the cables.
On mine, the cables were clipped by where the seatbelt reel resides, If you follow the wire for the seatbelt pretensioner (yellow) you'll probably find it along its path.
Cool, yeah I wired my Bose wires through the centre and didn't see anything. Yellow wires go into hole in the metal tunnel. I'll have a little poke about near sills at a-pillar.
Cheers Dave, so airduct cover off for a look then if no sign check near sill or centre console.
Will look tomorrow... Rear seat is arguing about the sit on part going on and dropping enough to get bolts to go in so need to have another look at that as well see if something blocking it...
I don't mind the shiny look to be honest. But if you like your seats looks matt and proper leathery, then you'd have loved the seats I had in my old facelift 156 diesel, they were awesome. Absolutely top quality leather, never had any car with this quality of leather from the factory. I do miss the agressive look of them but the GTA-style seats are just a bit too narrow for me, the Sport Recaros I find comfier.
Yeah, the same as the link. Out a 60,000 mile car.... just need to find a set of facelift door cards with dark leather or non leather that I can transfer the inserts from the ones I got as the dash finish is ever so slightly different on the 02 facelift to the 03 one.
Got them because I have a bad back and neck and though the lumbar support would help. The shape of seats really does help my back. Gotta say my old grey standard sport leather was in such good nick (and late sport leather is a lot more supportive than early momo version) so lateral support only a little improved but overall so much nicer on my back. Like how solid the seats are as well, very firm but actually makes them more comfortable on a long journey. Even passenger gets lumbar support
Ok, grabbed vent\duct out of rear foot area. Found a connector sitting under drivers seat. Has two wires but different termination to the white plug under the seat???
But no sign of any plug at all in the tunnel under pass seat.
I take it I have correct lead for drivers seat?? Are there any other spare plugs under drivers seat at all? If so I'll just cut plugs and connect with some electrical block or maybe I'll get guy I got seats off to cut plugs off the scrapper and pop correct plug on wires. If I can't find pass side in tunnel I guess I'll need to start looking under carpet for any sign of cable. Strange it's there on one side and not other though
Any other thoughts would be helpful eg. are we sure they come off main loom just at base of pillar? And do they run straight into seat mounting tunnel from there?
Not in box section. Pass side first lifted carpet from edge and stuck arm in... no sign till I got close to centre console and it was there just in front of where front seat runner ends. Popped it out through carpet and click - jobs a goodun.
Did same at drivers side (though not as easy to lift carpet due to fuel and boot levers) anyway got arm right under carpet and felt here there and everywhere but couldn't feel the spare cable like I did on pass side. Grrrrr
So leaves me with two questions 1. Where the **** is cable.... 2. What on the planet was the unconnected cable I pulled out of tunnel under drivers seat that doesn't have connector for seat on it (it's black plastic connector with two blade pins on it).
Been right under carpet and nothing on drivers side apart from connector with incorrect termination.
Can anybody with recaro's plugged in check what colour the two wires for the electric recline are? Beginning to wonder if someone re-terminated seat wire for another purpose at some point..
Not sure why they would be most wires are different colours on each side of car depending on what else is in loom and what they connect to. Be surprised if the colouring was identical but wouldn't be surprised at anything.
Still enough people have these seats (all Ti's and any sportpack recaro) that hopefully someone can take 10 seconds to check next time they are at their car
