Hi all,

First post from me. I have been pondering Alfa ownership for a while now. I'd probably like to get a 156 (love the look of them etc.) and am someone that would appreciate driving a car that is fun to drive rather than all out performance. I've been considering a 2.5 v6, but the problem is I live in Ireland and so the maintenance and tax/insurance costs are very high, though the car itself is fairly cheap to buy. I've gotten quotes on a 156 2.5L for 1600 euro/year.
Selling it on in a few years time would also be an issue. Another question I would have is the main dealer versus specialist for repairs (I live in Galway!).

I was wondering if there any Irish users that would have experience of buying and/or running a 156 in Ireland, and also if a 2.5L would be worth the extra cost over a 1.8L or 2.0L in terms of bang for the buck.

Thanks,
Gavin

Took the plunge nearly 2 years ago and not looked back...

The 2.0 JTS is a joy to run, and fuel consumption is not really an issue with the 2.o, I think - up to you...
