Position lights not working ?

Hi,

My giulietta just failed the M.O.T because they said that the front position lights don't work, i took it to my mechanic and he can´t find the problem because he can´t find where would they go on the headlight unit , i have had the car for about 4 years and always take it to the same place for the M.O.T and this has never been picked up.

My DRL stopped working a while ago and they don´t seem to care with that because it was never a reason for it to fail the M.O.T.

Is this a function shared by the normal headlights which should also work as the position headlights ?

I would really appreciate some answers on this because i don't really know what to do.

Best Regards

Thank you

Your front side lights need to work, MOT rules may have changed recently. Even though the side light and DRL are the same led bulb/unit. You need investigate why the DRLs are not working, I would say it is unlikely both sides stopped working so might be something simple.

Hi, from what i understand it is a common issue for the DRL to fail on the giulietta and mine have failed ages ago, front side lights and park lights are the same thing right? i m trying to find videos on this matter and information but i cant find anything .in regards to DRL the only way to fix it is apparently to get a new headlight unit ?

Thank you

There are posts in this forum, search for DRL. Chances are only one side is faulty, other side might flash then go off because other side is faulty. There is a ballast (control module) on the headlamp units which might be faulty instead of the led unit. If the led unit is faulty then it means a repl. headlamp.

Previous MOT testers must have let that go, pretty poor really, the sidelight needs to work in case the headlight is faulty.

Thank you i had seen them before but i never realized that the fact that the park lights did not work was due to the faulty DRL´s i will speak with my mechanic about cause i have no clue maybe he can sort it by looking into the control module.

One of the DRL does indeed blink when i turn the lights on and then it goes off where the other one never comes on, with some luck i might only need to replace one of them.

Thank you

Hi , yes I just went on the menu and activated the drl lights again and the one that blink I manage to make it work as a park light so that should pass the m.o.t on that side so I will need to definitely replace the unit on the other side .

Thank you
