There appears to be 2 relays plus a loose fuse in the details I have but that was for 16V engined cars. I need to read up a bit on this before I can give you any advice as the motronic unit is involved. Is yours the automatic climate control system like we have in the UK or is it just basic air con. eek!

Hi Mike

Mine is the climate control.

Thanks for the prompt reply but I took it to a/c expert this morning and told me that it must be or the compressor coil, or the compressor has seized.

Hi Eric

It's pretty hot in England too right now! But I've been to Malta once in early May and the other time in early November and at both times the daytime temperature was in the upper 20s, so I can imagine what it must be like at the moment.

Anyway, I'm not posting simply to discuss the weather! My A/C sytem isn't working properly either. When I put it on Auto and then set the temperature to "Lo", it sets the fan going at top speed, as though to cool down the passenger cabin. But the air coming out never really gets cool. Is this the same problem as you're having?

I'd be very grateful if someone could shed some light on this. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Alfista.

If your aircon isn't getting cold then you need the gases recharging.

Simple job, should cost you around £50.

Doesn't need to be an Alfa dealer. Just look for aircon specialists in yellow pages.

Also Halfords are offering the service.

Thanks for your help, curvature. It's due for its next service fairly soon, so I'll get that done at the same time.

Hi guys
I once had the earth connect of the compressor gone. This can be checked by turning on ignition but not the engine; when pushing in the "Aut" bottom a click from the compressor should be heard, if not it's not getting any power. I had a new earth connection made near the relay(s) inside under the dash.
Alfisti regards
Erik
