I'm picking up 156 SW on Monday. Allready have a 147 2.0 that shredded the cam belt after 3 weeks of ownership, cost me nearly £600 to sort out but still decided to buy another Alfa. The styling is gorgeous and the drive amazing in the 147 so hoping for the same from the SW.

Not too sure about the 156 yet as its only a 1.6 but needed something cheaper to run than my current car, Jag S Type 3.0 V6. Will be a big drop in power but that will also be the same for fuel costs. I put £60 a week in just to get to work, I only work 11 miles away!!

Buying it unseen which I know is a bit of a gamble but the price is good so hopefully it will be ok.

Are there any things to look out for? I know about the cam belt from previous experience.

If you keep the oil topped up, the engine is sturdy enough and any creaking from the front will probably be the upper suspension arms.
