Had my MiTo for a few weeks and was just checking the oil level (following the other threads) when I noticed some masking tape over the fuse box, which got me thinking.

My service booklet was not completed on delivery and no stamp for PDI.

Could this be a case of the car never having had a PDI or just that the booklet was never completed?

Is there a way of telling if the PDI ever took place (like grease on the door hinges, of which there is none, BTW) or any other tell-tale signs?

Our car also had the masking tape on the engine fuse box.
I think a few other people have mentioned the same in other threads.
Also nothing in the handbook.
PDI must of been a joke as we had numerous probs which should have been picked up on the inspection.

The salesperson handing over the car should check that the car has a complete book pack and that it is filled in and stamped. Go back and shout at them:lol:

They have since updated the book for me, but the question still remains......how can I tell if the PDI was done?

Anyone know what checks they're supposed to do before handover?
Its pretty basic stuff.....number plates on the car, clock, date, radio set up, check torque of roadwheel bolts, a voltage test on the battery and they let the car and a laptop have a little chat for half an hour or so. All PDIs follow a fairly similar procedure.

If you are really concerned that something has been missed, ask the garage to produce the PDI check sheet:thumbs:
