My wife and I are looking for a fun car. We thought of the Miata and the Boxster, but a classic Alfa is quite appealing. An 80's vintage spider veloce or graduate. Its not nearly as fast as either one, but has quite a bit of style.

I live in Massachusetts. Are most of you guys in Europe? What would it be like getting parts and having a car like this serviced?

parts for the later spiders (80's to 90's) are in good supply with lots of specialists in the USA
Check out alfabb (the US equivalent of alfaowner) great tech support and you will find a few likeminded guys in your part of the world!)
Suppliers for spares I can think of offhand in the US are-
Welcome to International Auto Parts

Alfa Parts Exchange - Used Alfa Romeo Parts
Centerline Alfa Romeo (888) 750-ALFA

and as you are in MA this link might be of use
The New England Alfa Romeo Service Directory

As with any classic car purchase, try to get the best one you can afford unless you are willing to put time and effort into it yourself.

Miata and Boxters are more modern machines to drive, both have good solid reputations, but you see them everywhere on the road - an alfa is being different:)
