Has anyone tried to add paddle shifters to a 2017 Giulia? Because I tried but I'm pretty sure I didn't have the right obd scanner. I bought the Bluetooth obdlink mx and after I set the paddles to present, I ran a proxy alignment and it failed. It timed out on quite a view of the modules. I since have ordered a new wired scanner and new adapters.

It will just take some time for them to get here because I live in the states. The paddle shifters are still not working, but I am assuming it is because the proxy failed on the Automatic transmission node? Just curious if anyone can shed some light on this situation. Thanks.

yes, I supported a fewllow on Polish forum who did OK retrofit of paddle ****ers in his 2016 or 17 (can't remember, but surelly not SGW equipped) Giulia 2 weeks ago. He used ELM327 USB I reccomended him based on my experience (e.g. my BT did not wanted to connect to Proxi in Giulia saying that link is too slow, I bought similar but USB, selected the same baudrate but high speed mode, and it connects to Proxi and all other modules on CAN OK (though I can't expecute Proxi or active diagnostics as I have 2018 car with Security Gateway - I woudl need to connect after SGW or put bypass instead if I needed (I don't yet, though thinking about adding adaptive cruise control on some stage)).
Note, that ELM must have redundant termination resistor removed (config for Fiat/Alfa/Lancia, most of ELMs on the market have that resistor in) - you can check it with Ohmmeter between pins 6&14 of your ELM - you must not see anything around 100-120Ohms, should be kiloOhms or more. If it is not right, some modules may not talk at all or reliably with ELM, and so problems ready.
Proxi for GIulia requires 2 adapters (gray and blue) and MES 4.3 requests these while doing proxi as far as the fellow advised me after doing retrofit.

I am not sure if you can change adapters once the proxi starts on MES...

MES 4.3 paused proxi and requested that when during proxi run on Giulia. that proxi was run with standard ELM USB - I know that you have some multiplexed interfaces, maybe there it looks different?
I was also surprised, as my experience with many proxi runs on various 159s and Giuliettas is that proxi never required change of adapter during run - all was done without any adapters. I even called the guy direclty to confirm (forum fellow who I helped to get up to speed with all MES, what/where to buy, proxi etc)

I would assume you just need the (wired) elm327 interface for the actual proxi aligment, as it goes via the bodycomputer...... However, just a guess. I have the MPX interface myself.

Did you get a replacement shroud/cowl for under the steering wheel? If so do you have a link for where to buy own? Finding it really hard to source! Thanks.
