Hi

My 130,000 1.9 went into limp mode and gave a check the engine warning on the lcd display.

Got home and my code reader gave the above code saying "throttle actuator control module performance".

I cleared the code and its all driving ok now.

I know the swirl flap bar is off the car so I will do the repair on that bar and reinstall - whilst i am under the bonnet I will clean the maf and map.

Any other ideas on what it might be or things to check ??

Regret to report its gone into limpy again......

Any thought or suggestions on route to a fix ?

Im starting with cleaning the sensors .....map, maf

EGR clean additive in the tank

Repair and refit the swirl flap bar

Is the throttle actuator the butterfly valve cat the top of the manifold? There's a how clean guide in the stickies (EGR gunk can jam it)

Thanks for the advice giblets,

Very much appreciated.

Yesterday I took off and cleaned the erg / map and maf sensors.

I will take the throttle body off tonight and see how it looks for a clean up

New swirl flap rod arrives from Germany later this week.

If it still acts up then I guess the next step will be a new/used but tested throttle body.

Throttle body taken off last night and cleaned up.

Tested using my sealey probe (best £20 I have spent on tools) and its opening/closing the butterfly.

Going back on tonight and we will see

Thanks to giblets advice and a can of halfords electrical contact cleaner I think its all sorted .

After celaning the egr / map and maf thn throttle body (it was pretty mucky) no limp mode or fault light

Swirl flap bar arriving in next few days - but it needed doing anyway..
