Ok, the time has come to do this :cheese:
I will post pics as I go through the numerous obstacles on the way.

So, here is a question for someone who has made the P1.5 conversion (littledigger doesn't reply to his PM's and he's the only one here who's done the conversion that I'm aware of :( )

The only problem I have are the dials. I can't seem to figure out how to mix the two (P1 and P2) as read in some posts here and on the French forum. I even tried contacting the person that did the conversion, but with no luck as well :(

Anyway, hopefully someone can help.

Thanks

Yes, I know  Thanks

I could probably figure it out myself, but I'm just trying to spare me some time, or nerves, or both. :) It's a lot of work and I'm trying to gather as much information as I can before I start.

How have you solved the problem with the switches (I think I read somewhere) that the heater vent control knob on the P1 is mechanical, whilst the the P2 is electrical?

I think this is why littledigger went to all that trouble of cutting and pasting the P1 switches into the P2

That's exactly what I'm thinking about doing. There is another solution. I could cut holes in the right diameter for the P1 controls and then try to fix them properly to the silver fascia from behind and then move the AC switches somewhere else. See attached photo.

The dials are the biggest problem.

Something to note.

The air ducting for the screen & side windows as well as the face level vent ducts are different between phase 1 and 2. Also there is a rectangular bit of duct that sits between the heater unit and the screen/side window duct which connects the face level ducting. That's also different.

Other than the aperture for the 3 round face vents in the centre, I have no idea yet of the differences between these parts.

When sourcing your dashboard, you may want to grab all these bits of ducting as well to play mix and match between your phase 1 heater and phase 2 dashboard. I do seem to remember though that the earlier documented swap involved hacking away at the screen bit of ducting so it would accomodate the 3 round face level vents.

Here are the bits in question :
Items 1 & 2
FIAT ePER

and items 1 & 2 in this one as well

Thanks for your help ;)

I know thay I may have to cut a bit of the ducting to accomodate the dials (as littledigger stated in an earlier post), but it's not mentioned on the French forum at all. Maybe LHD and RHD are different, but i doubt it.

I'm going to pick up the console tomorrow or later today, so will see what I need.
Guess I have to cut the foam under the bottom part of the console to fit the armrest part.

Progress report!

I have mixed the consoles :)
New one is painted and will be dry tomorrow so I can perform some minor fixes. It's a real pain to get a smooth surface and I've done best I could.

Next stop: fix the bottom part of the console to the floor. Should be easy.

Was even thinking about getting the bottom part and the upper surround covered in leather. What do you think?

I still have no clue about the dials

Progress report!

Everything is connected. The dials are working, the ventilation, everything. I'm still waiting for the switches by the steering wheel. As soon as they get here it's all done! ;) Took me a week and yes, I am mad

More pics soon

Nice work! :)
I like your silver - but how are you going to do the Alfa Romeo script? :p

Keeping the previous heater controls has made it different to any other but it looks like it was meant to be that way...

what did you do about the ventilation? is it still standard behind?

also are your dials phase 1 or 2?
Ventilation is standard. Had to cut a bit of ducting from behind to make room for the dials, but nothing serious. Just used quality duct tape to seal the duct and make sure I don't melt the dials

The dials are a mix of phase 1 and 2. I took the fuel gauge from phase 1 including it's circuit board and then wired the rest of the phase 2 dials to it. That was the tricky part  Had to model the housing to make everything fit. Anyway, all are fully working!

A lot of mods and a week of work to get to this point. But the hardest part is over.
If you're interested I can write a more detailed guide.

Charlee, looks brilliant! A real improvement :D Looks like it took some serious skills

Great job - Mr T still thinks you're a crazy fool though
Thank you :) Couldn't have made it without help from a friend who finished the fascia and drilled some holes in the floor

The switches are next and we can say it's done ;)
Next step? Seats and brakes. Hopefully I will soon get hold off some lovely 166 calipers powdercoated in glossy red
