My 3 litre 166 is playing up. About 3 weeks ago I had a problem and the fault codes that came up were MAF related so I searched around and found the 'flexible' air inlet pipe between the airbox and manifold had cracked resulting in an airleak. Replaced it and everything was fine, But before I found the leak however, I actually cleaned the MAF, but after replacing the hose it ran perfectly for 3 weeks, probably around 400km. Last week it started to miss and backfire again just like it did before with the split pipe. I removed the hose and double checked for leaks but it was all ok. So I replaced the MAF with a new identical Bosch unit thinking that cleaning the old one had somehow led to a failure but it made absolutely no difference. I tried another one out of another car in case the new one was faulty but it was the same. At first no fault codes came up but eventually P0100 came up. But having changed the MAF I am at a loss to know where to go from here. Any suggestions? 3 weeks ago I did also put a new air cleaner element in it as well. I also used an electrical connection spray on the plug when I fitted the new MAF.

Ok thanks I'll pass that advice onto my mechanic. Throttle idling replaced with secondhand one early March. Car went three weeks before problem. Seems to be gettjng more solid. Idling on startup now takes some time before it runs evenly. Mass air unit changed 2021. Mileage 120k plus om my 2002 Alfa156gta 3.2 v6.

The OP had already stated what he did to fix his problem before you asked, my ironic reply didn't add anything. Coils may not fix your problem. There is plenty of knowledgable people regarding these cars if you want to provide more detail.
