I've been meaning to put some decent bulbs in the G since i got her.

I've searched this forum looking for halogen bulb recommendations, when this week I get an email from Osram telling me about their fancy new LED bulbs for halogen lamps (not for road use of course) and how they are new and improved! now I've bought Philips LED bulbs in the past and had them in the 159 and after a lot of faffing decided to go HID on that car.

However, Osram's marketing guff was very convincing, so did a little internet search on eBay and popped some on the watch list (£84 on eBay from a seller who i wasn't sure if they were the real deal or counterfeit) something i may buy in the future i thought.

Well, I popped into Halfords today as I needed some brake cleaner and wandered over to the bulbs to have a look to see if they were doing any decent bulbs on their usual "buy one get one free"

Long story short they sell the Osram LED bulbs in there little LED bulbs section so i fitted a set of these Osram LEDriving bulbs today, now I don't normally recommend things to other people but these are seriously next level!

I've just got back from a country road blast and these bulbs are incredible, things really have moved on in bulb tech, the beam pattern is brilliant.

So, because Halfords sell them, I presume you can still pay them to have them fitted...?

**EDIT - I guess because these bulbs aren't road legal, Halfrauds won't fit them**

Of course you can.
The bigger your pranks the harder it will be.
Working blind skills are required.

On the practical side, you will have to move the "windshieldwasherfluidreservoir" out of the way.

To be fair to Halfords they did offer to fit, but I wouldn’t let them anywhere near my G.

I removed the washer neck completely for a bit more space, but it’s a very simple installation as they have an adapter you install first then the bulb goes In second.

I have massive paws fairly easy for me.

The bulbs in your first post have spade terminals, do you need to fit anything to the original wiring loom or do they just plug in. Really like the colour match with the DRL's. Did you do the high beams as well?

Nope just plug them in, high beams will be next month as these bulbs are pretty pricey

No additional boxes as it is all built into the bulb.

I just installed them in my 159, it only took me a couple of minutes. For the record, they fit very easily, there was no need to modify the light housing. Oh, and duhh… they shine very brightly, the beam pattern is brilliant.
Now I have to change fog light bulbs to LED. I read in the forum that fog bulbs don’t require “canbus”, is this true?

hey the bulbs look great. It seems a good way to update the headlights in line with new cars which always seem to have better lights than the g! Presumably you have to pop 4200k or below h7s in for mot?

It's not the colour, but lights have to "use the light source they were designed for" as a catch all for failing all aftermarket conversions thanks to the idiots running totally unsuitable aftermarket hid kits in reflector headlights.

The easiest way to guarantee a pass would be to stick the halogens back in for the test.

In reality as long as the colour isn't silly and the aim and beam pattern are fine a lot of testers will turn a blind eye and issue a pass even if not strictly 'correct'

Hi all, sorry for jumping on the post.

I’m looking to replace some on my interior bulbs in my G I’ve got a couple of dead ones so though while at it I would upgrade them to a better brighter bulb.

I’m looking at changing the C5W and C10W on the ceiling but I can only seem to find standard Osram C10W and no LED or upgrade bulbs. Has anyone changed these and if so any bulb advice?

If your car has headlights designed for halogens, it is illegal, annoying and frankly stupid to put LED or HID globes. If you want LED, you must replace the entire projector assembly inside the headlight housing with an LED projector.

These kits are not legal for a good reason. Stop it.
