..ah just loose the filler cap and steering wheel and she'd be grand.

i suppose they're getting to a stage when the good ones should start to be worth a little more alright, but they are hard to value.

and all the reviews at the time did call it a "big hot-hatch".. :)

The biggest issue for these are running costs! I'm very sure if some could afford to run these they would still be a 3k car.

I'd love one, I can afford one.......just not to run one :-(

But lots of people ignore depreciation. They go out and buy a brand new Kia or something apparently cheap and cheerful, then find it's cost them 2 grand a year just in depreciation. Spend a grand on a 164 like the nice Twin Spark that Vince is advertising on Pistonheads and you're already ahead of the game even if it goes bang after a year, which it won't.

Precisely my tactic over the years.

People are very stupid. And there is tremendous Mr Jones next door latest plate envy. Fools, the lot of them.

I might have spent a few K on bills, road tax and fuel for my 166 over the years. But it still cost me only 3 and a bit K when I bought it. So I'm hugely quids in vs any Kia, Ford or whatever rubbish. And I'm enjoying 3 litres of fantastic Italian luxury!

fuel cap is an original zender accessory, as are the pedals.
The owner is a guy called Maciej who used to work for Clovertech Alfa Romeo specialists. Brakes are over a grand on their own...
