Hi all,

Whilst driving home tonight my 2012 1.6 Diesel (43k miles) flashed a message for 'Check Oil' with the oil can warning light flashing red.

My car was in a local independent garage last week for a pre-MOT check (get free MOT with the used dealer I bought the car from). The service spanner light began flashing this week which doesn't bother me but the oil warning is worrying.

Checked the oil when I got home - level is fine. Opened the oil cap, no sign of white/yellow crap on lid. Some steam coming out but I'd just driven about 15 miles - is that normal?

Anyone had anything similar or any idea what, if any, the problem is? Praying it's not going to be expensive :depressed:

Thanks, as it's a flashing light this is for oil degeneration and not pressure. Manual says it is fine to continue driving for up to 500km before getting it changed.

Booked into Kwik-Fit tomorrow. £75 for oil and filter change and they say they can reset the lights too.

If anyone knows the exact things I should tell them to reset that would be very helpful to make sure they do it correctly.

Had the same thing happen on mine.
Took it to an Alfa specialist who had some trouble re setting the warning.
Be wary of Kwik-Fit

As an update - Kwik Fit were unable to reset the oil warning. I was pretty impressed they checked this first and contacted me to let me know so didn't bother doing the work to save me the money. Going to have to go to Western Alfa in Glasgow who quoted £160!! ?

What??? £160!!?? Google a local specialist.Don't give these robbers your money.
