As some of you know from my other thread I have an oil pressure problem with my TS spider!
This is what happens......

Start ignition, lights stays on, revs go up to 2,500 light goes out, Its not the pressure light switch (changed it) Moving on to the bottom end, with out doing a pressure test I've been told it could be the oil pump! the cars in for a test on Tuesday next week.

Any 1 had similar problems or would like to share a view ???

Things that may be the cause...

Low oil level
Incorrectly fitted or blocked oil pickup
Worn big end bearings
Worn oil pump.
Wrong oil viscosity 0w-30, and 5w-30 are too thin.

Worn or damaged oil pumps are quite rare aparrently.

Has the car ever had a cambelt snap, been run low on oil or had engine work that you know of?

Things that may be the cause...

Low oil level (never! always checked)
Incorrectly fitted or blocked oil pickup (a possibility?)
Worn big end bearings (also a possibility, not noisy tho)
Worn oil pump. (My thoughts)
Wrong oil viscosity 0w-30, and 5w-30 are too thin. (20k current)

Worn or damaged oil pumps are quite rare aparrently. (this is what I've heard)

I've owned the car for 2 and a half years, full service history, no belt damage or run low on oil in my ownership.
Its been fine untill 3 weeks ago when this happened

If it is a sticky release valve in the pump then its a belt off job to change the pump right?

Have you even had the cam cover off and checked the condition of the cam lobes?

There has been cases of them wearing. The metal then gets into the oil and causes havoc with the oil pump, and bearings.

I was working on the car over the weekend and (cam cover came off) they looked to be in good condition!?

Its strange that the light goes out when pressure builds up and the light stays off  if it had continuous low pressure it would come back on.
