I've just had my '97 2.0 16v serviced and mysteriously the day after, the warning light in the instrument cluster decided to come on. There was obviously plenty of new oil in the car, so I assumed it was the slope on the drive. However, the next day, the LED on the check panel came on as well. Back at the garage, they've scratched their heads and have ordered a new sender.

Anybody else ever had a problem like this ?

Hi Mikko,

Mine also comes and goes and I'm assuming that it is a bad connection somewhere that leaves the circuit open. Are both lights linked to the same sensor ? It seems very strange that this problem looks to have been triggered by an oil change....

Not much use but here we go anyway...

If you can get underneath the car check all the connections.

It has been known for the italians to have 'not amazing' wiring.

I do have to agree that it does sound like a dodgy connector.
