Just been quoted £149 +vat for an oil & filter change, based on £14.95 per litre. Is that a reasonable cost?

i dont think so... im pretty sure i did mine before i bought the license which i needed to calibrate the HID's. Maybe someone else can clairfy?

I did try it on the free version. Same tab where you do DPF regens. Told me I need the paid version, which is still cheaper than the above quote.

yeah thats the fella... same tab as dpf regen. Like you say a lot cheaper than the oil change quote

£150! bl00dy hell. get your own oil and filter - £45 from a motor factors and pay 30 labour max. then £60 wil get you fiat ecuscan and a cable,, or find someone local who can do the reset for you

I should clarify:

The 1st was done at an AR main dealer, the 2nd at a Fiat main dealer (same dealership chain). Oil on 1st receipt described as Selenia WR PE 2LT, QTY = 3, unit price = £17.40, net total = £52.20. Oil on 2nd receipt described as WR Pure energy 5LTS, QTY = 1, unit price = £42.50, net total = £42.50. Therefore 1st oil = £8.70/litre, 2nd oil = £8.50/litre.

There's no more info on the receipts on the labour costs.

And to clarify further... my post was not a moan.

Bear in mind the 2.4 needs over 6 litres of rather expensive oil !

They put in the recommend 5W40 Fully Synthetic

Looks like they use castrol edge

Without a DPF i wish i'd research alternatives now as other oils might now be better....ah well difference probably minor

I've just been talking to Nigel , the tech man at MILLERS oils about what to put in my 159 2.4jtdm ti 2009 model . He said that XFS 5W40 would meet the Alfa spec ' but he advised me to use the same as I put in my race car , seeing as it tows as well ----- and that's Millers 5/40 NT which means nanotechnology , it's a full synthetic competition oil used in my 2lt zetec 231bhp. I never let oil in my road car stay in the engine as long as manufacturers say , which in the case of 159's is 18,000 miles --- mine will be changed at 8,000 max . Engines like clean oil , if they didn't you'd put used oil in aye ?
