Panic over! Was the battery one, rather than the fuel pump one!

I have a similar problem, I get the message "Inertia switch intervened" everytime I power up the car, and had a check under the hood and found that the inertia switch next to the battery has been disconnected, and the small wire is now connected to ground, or at least I think it is the same wire. Car runs fine, but I would like to get rid of the error message. Questions is, why would they have done this? (some less competent workshop no doubt). Anyone got a suggestion?

:)
