Guys someone's knocked my wing mirror off on my 147 Ducati Corse :furious:

Been looking for a replacement on ebay - has the wing mirror changed between different models of the 147?
Also they're kind of brushed silver - was this specific to the DC or would a standard silver 147 wing mirror be the same?

Many thanks, its stuck on with glue at the momen :furious:

Is it just the covers that are brushed silver? If yours is still in one piece they can be removed and fitted to any replacement. They're a PITA to get off, glass has to be popped off, cover is held by 4 fixing prongs (one of which is impossible to get at) however it can be done by working on the visible 3.

Good luck

me too

That happened to me today too..! Went to get in my car this morning and the mirror glass was on the ground, wing mirror hanging off. Silver lining - someone elses wing mirror was on the road in pieces a few meters along.
Still, now I have to fix mine. Is 03 147 and almost seems fixable, though I am no expert by any means. Hopefully someone on here can offer some advice as to when the wing mirror is fixable and when it needs replacing.

Easy job for a novice?

Lets hope we don't end up bidding for same mirror on eBay!!

If the alloy casting inside the mirror has snapped (folding mechanism seized, so just breaks rather than folds) then it may be possible to use body filler to "stick" the alloy bits back together if the break is clean. Pack the filler up inside the hole that the fixed and rotating parts are supposed to rotate around and hold in place until set. This has worked for several years in my case. Mirror doesn't fold obviously but they don't seem to last long before seizing up anyway so doesn't really matter.

Went to local non Alfa specialist scrappy in Swindon and got one for £10 for my son's car. Others here are right it's a PITA getting the cover off to swap them over (replacement is red original was silver) but even harder to get it on the replacement mirror without damaging the prongs that hold. Only held on now by 3 or four prongs but seems secure enough and has been on for several months.

Araldited..!

Thanks to those offering advice - I'm grateful!
To update, I needed a quick fix, so halfords, some araldite and a really poor fitting mirror glass (about the smallest they had) has done me for today. Does the job for around £15 but will prob want to replace it before mot in a few months (depending on my luck).

How much rgwm? electric?

Thanks again.

Hi there,

On a thread a couple of months back you mentioned that you may have a driver side 147 wing mirror to sell. Got mot coming up so want to replace it. Just wanted to check with you if you still have the part for sale and can send this week?

cheers

Found one - its blue, but could doubtless be painted or the cover swapped.

If you are going to Spring Alfa Day on Sunday I could deliver.....
sorry for the delay in getting back to you, had a bit on my plate! Hope the alfa day went well.
Have you still got the part? How much do you want for it?
I still have my old black one hanging on with glue, so hopefully i will be able to lift the casing off..

Cheers Richard,

Yes please, I will take it!
I saw the mechanic who will be doing my mot on weds, said my arraldyted effort will pass as its secure enough! Still want a fix though of course.
How we gonna do this? Do you have an eBay / amazon page where you sell parts?
If so I may peruse as I could probably do with picking up a few other bits maybe.

cheers

Dan
